Axial Coronary Arteryography

Coronary CT scan is a modern, non-invasive diagnostic test used to visualize the coronary arteries of the heart. These are the vessels that supply blood to the heart muscle.

Who is it for

Coronary CT scan is not only for patients.

According to the latest guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology, CT coronary angiography is the first to be performed in individuals in whom it is necessary to exclude coronary artery disease (CAD).

A large segment of the population can benefit from CT coronary angiography: those with a low or average probability of coronary artery disease, as long as the examination is always performed in the context of a more general clinical and laboratory examination and according to the instructions of the specialist clinician. We could say that it is a possible intermediate stage between the basic clinical and laboratory cardiac examination and selective coronary angiography.

Can CT coronary angiography replace classic invasive coronary angiography?

Coronary CT has a high negative predictive value, meaning that it can very reliably rule out the presence of coronary artery disease, and is the appropriate method for patients at low and intermediate risk for coronary artery disease.

How much radiation does a patient who undergoes coronary CT receive?

The amount of radiation that a patient who undergoes coronary CT at the EVINOR Diagnostic Center receives is 80% reduced compared to previous generation CT scanners.
