Digital Mammography

Digital mammography performed at the EVINOR Diagnostic Center is one of the most popular and reliable forms of mammography in radiodiagnostic imaging and preventive medicine and is the natural continuation of analog in the 21st century.

Digital mammography is a breast imaging test that uses X-rays to create high-resolution images. It is an important test for early detection of breast cancer, as it can detect changes that are not palpable.

The recording of the breast image in digital mammography differs from that of analog mammography. A computer and a digital sensor are used, unlike analog mammography which uses radiological film.

WHEN SHOULD I HAVE A DIGITAL MAMMOGRAM?

Digital mammography should be repeated after the age of 40 every year, while in women with a family history, screening should begin much earlier, at the age of 30-35.

The greatest advantage of digital mammography is that the radiologist has the ability to distinguish and identify any small findings in the breast, small lesions measuring up to 0.1 – 0.2mm.

It is also indicated for women with dense breasts and achieves clearer imaging, more accurate evaluation and diagnosis in order to rule out possible breast cancer.

● The examination time in digital mammography is significantly reduced, lasting approximately half the time compared to analog mammography.

● Lower radiation dose to the breasts.

● The images obtained in digital mammography are of higher resolution, helping the treating physician in the valid diagnosis of breast cancer.

● The image can be stored in digital format on a computer and remain unchanged for many years.

● Less pressure is exerted on the breast.
